February 2021: News, Updates, and Opportunities for CASA Volunteers

Letter from the Executive Director

Dear CASA Volunteers,

Happy February! It's the month of love, and here at CASA what we love most is the heart our CASA volunteers have for children.

Because of you, CASA has been able to stand up to a full year of unprecedented challenges. This month, we published our 2020 annual report which you can access here. The report provides a glimpse into CASA's many accomplishments of last year, including 87 cents of every dollar raised being put directly into programs. As a cost-saving measure, we offer the annual report online but we do have printed copies available. If you would like a printed copy, please let me know.

We also look forward to celebrating the impact you all made last year, while looking ahead to the coming year, at our 2nd Annual CASA-wide Volunteer Impact Event on Feb. 22. I hope to see many of your faces during this Zoom event. If you have not done so already, please click here to RSVP.

As always, thank you for your continued commitment to the children of the Pikes Peak Region. If there is anything you would like to chat about please do not hesitate to reach out.

With gratitude,

Angela Rose

CASA Executive Director

You can re-FUND CASA with your Colorado state tax refund!

This is year two for this awesome program which makes it easy for Coloradans who receive a state income tax refund to donate all or some of it to a local nonprofit they trust. All you have to do is decide how much of your refund you wish to donate and then enter "CASA of the Pikes Peak Region," as well as our registration number (20023005563), in the "Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit Fund" line on your state income tax return or tax software. MFCF Spotlight: Jennifer De Lima

"When children enter the foster care system, they do not always have access to the same opportunities as their peers. This really tugs at my heartstrings and it is the reason I volunteer for CASA. I know that by helping to provide normal childhood experiences, I am making an impact on the lives of these children" -- Jennifer on what it means to her to volunteer for CASA's Milton Foster Children's Fund program

Bunny Shop set to open in March

Summer Camp Registration open!

February 2021 Anniversaries

We have a lot to celebrate this month! Twenty-eight CASA volunteers are celebrating anniversaries in February. Thank you to everyone who stands by kids in our Dependency & Neglect, Life Long Links, Milton Foster Children's Fund, and Supervised Exchange & Parenting Time Programs!

The Hanger is taking appointments!

The Hanger is open by appointment and shoppers can sign up to come in once during the month of February, so be sure to click the button below and sign up for a shopping slot!

Focus Group on Feb. 23

We are very excited to host a Black/African American Community Engagement Focus Group next week (Feb. 23 from 10-11) where we hope to gain insight on how to better recruit community members of color to become Court Appointed Special Advocates! CASA will be joined on Zoom by several local community leaders. We also want and need feedback from existing CASA volunteers. If you feel you would have insight to contribute to this focus group, please email Keri and she will send you the Zoom invite.
