Quarter 1, 2021: News and Updates for CASA Donors

Letter from the Executive Director

Dear CASA Donors:

Happy New Year! I hope you are looking forward to a wonderful 2021.

I am so thankful to each and every one of you for empowering CASA to continue advocating for vulnerable children through the many challenges of 2020. CASA's donors, Board of Directors, volunteers, Circle of Impact members, and staff stood by us so we could stand by the children. For this, I am forever grateful.

As you know, CASA saw a significant increase in the number of children coming into our programs last year. The effects of this pandemic will undoubtedly affect us through 2021 and we expect to see approximately 900 children this year that will need our services. With more children to serve, fundraising will continue to be more important than ever.

A large piece of our fundraising strategy has always been the Light of Hope event in April. We have made the decision to not gather in person for this annual event again this year. Instead, we are planning a month-long Light of Hope Campaign. More information on these plans will be available soon, and I hope you will participate.

In the meantime, CASA will continue to adapt to our ever-changing world and we will continue to make a difference for the children who need us the most.

CASA was nominated for Best Nonprofit in the Gazette's "Best of the Springs" awards. This would be a great honor for us, so if you have not voted yet, please check it out and cast your vote for CASA before Feb. 14! We are listed in the "City Life and Recreation" category and you can find the voting page here.

Thank you again for your unwavering support. As always, please email me at angelar@casappr.org with any comments or concerns.

Warmly,

Angela

Mission Moment: 315 Children Received Holiday Gifts from CASA

Through Milton Foster Children’s Fund,  a record 162 teens received gift bags with $25 gift cards, toiletries, candy, and more. 139 younger foster children received toys, books, coats, and shoes from the CASA Santa’s Shop, and 14 children in CASA’s Supervised Exchange & Parenting Time Program discovered extra gifts under their trees.

Did You Know?

In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, 87 cents of every dollar you donated to CASA went directly into programs to serve children. This was made possible in part by the decrease in event spending in 2020. CASA looks forward to continuing its excellent stewardship of donor dollars in 2021.

Partner Spotlight: Supercuts

Last year, CASA partnered with Heather Heinbaugh, the owner of four Supercuts salons in Colorado Springs. The new $25,000 business partner has been committed to supporting CASA through her salons, even though her salons have been hard-hit by the pandemic.
