Quarter 4, 2023: News and Updates for CASA Donors

Letter from the Executive Director

Dear CASA Donors:

I hope you are enjoying the fall colors and looking forward to a holiday season full of friends and family.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness that domestic violence is found in all corners of our communities. So many of the children CASA serves have grown up in homes with domestic violence and we are forever grateful to our generous CASA supporters who ensure these children can have an advocate on their side.

We recently held two fundraising events for packed houses with whom we shared three inspirational stories of the light, support, and hope that can come to families and children with CASA volunteers.

Light of Hope Teller took place in Woodland Park on Oct. 4. Thanks to presenting sponsors Newmont Cripple Creek & Victor and The Golden Nugget formerly known as Wildwood Casino, and to event sponsors Schommer Construction and Triple Crown Casinos, all money raised went directly into programs in Teller County.

Light of Hope North occurred in Black Forest on Oct. 17 and was presented by Budget Blinds, Covington Homes, and Vanguard Skin Specialists. The event was also supported by business partners Supercuts, Marquesa Hobbs, Realtor/The Platinum Group, Adams Bank & Trust, Alpine Buick GMC South, Classic Homes, Corvirtus, Johnson Kush PC, and Mulliken Weiner Berg and Jolivet PC. Because of the generosity of these supporters, all money raised will go directly to programs.

We are currently in the planning stage of our 2nd annual Night of Hope event, which will feature a Mardi Gras theme in February, and you can look for more information about that soon.

Thank you all for your commitment to the vulnerable children we serve. Please reach out to me any time at angelar@casappr.org.

Sincerely,

Angela Rose

Mission Moment: 73 teens prepped for back-to-school at CASA

Seventy-three teens came to The Hanger in August for CASA’s back-to-school party through the Milton Foster Children’s Fund (MFCF) program. Teen attendance at The Hanger had dropped off pretty significantly after the pandemic, making this great turn-out in August a big stepping stone for CASA’s MFCF to get back to where it was in previous years. Every teen in attendance received a brand new backpack, school supplies, clothing, and shoes to head back to school in style. There was even a resource fair with volunteers talking to the teens about topics as wide ranging as sewing, school instruments, and entrepreneurism.
