Quarter 3, 2023: News and Updates for CASA Donors

Letter from the Executive Director

Dear CASA Donors:

I hope you are enjoying the summer, finding time to spend with loved ones and relaxing a bit.

Here at CASA, it has been an exciting summer. Our 2022-2023 fiscal year ended on June 30th with our amazing volunteers and staff exceeding the goal for number of children served! We set our sights on life-changing advocacy for 636 children and ended the year with advocates for 657 children.

On the fundraising front, we are pleased to announce that United Way has continued its support of CASA with a $30,000 grant for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. We are so grateful for this partnership!

You may have heard the Amazon Smiles give-back program ceased to exist in February. There is however an easy way to make up for this loss in revenue. The King Soopers Community Rewards program allows shoppers to designate a charity to receive a portion of proceeds from the groceries they buy. Currently, we only have 60 supporters signed up to support CASA through King Soopers and we earn about $600 per year from those 60 supporters. Imagine how much revenue we would bring in if each and every CASA supporter chose CASA of the Pikes Peak Region as their charity of choice at King Soopers! Just login on the King Soopers website, click on "account" and then click "community rewards." From there, you will be able to enter "CASA of the Pikes Peak Region" in the search bar and mark it as your charity. Once you do this, the groceries you will be buying anyway will begin to generate revenue for CASA.

Thank you all for your continued support, I appreciate you all so much. Please contact me any time with questions, comments, or concerns. I can be reached at angelar@casappr.org.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Executive Director

Mission Moment: Lisa Borden has given a decade to helping foster teens eliminate barriers and thrive

For Lisa Borden, “The Hanger” is so much more than a clothing store for foster teens.  Having been a key player in the project since the get-go back in 2013, she knows it’s also about confidence, expression, safety, acceptance, and the elimination of barriers.

Did You Know?

Calls to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline typically decrease during the summer months when children are not under the watchful eyes of teachers and other school administrators. It is especially important during summer for all community remembers to call the hotline at 1-844-CO-4-KIDS if they believe a child is being mistreated. If a child is in danger, call 911.

Partner Spotlight: Alpine Buick GMC South partners with CASA; General Manager to become advocate

This year, Alpine Buick GMC South became a part of the roster of local businesses who are making a difference for children through their support of CASA. Funds were raised for CASA in April as part of the dealership's "Alpine Cares Drive" and CASA will be the charity of the month again before the year ends! In addition to the business partnership, General Manager Steve Eling has applied to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate!
